There are plenty of the typical places to go on New Year’s Eve. I am happy to offer you a Pouregon-style alternative. Insomnia Coffee Company‘s Baseline location will be open until 12:30 am and will feature Patrick Hammond who returns to Insomnia after giving his firrst concert three years ago, and he will be releasing his first CD.
Hammond didn’t know he could sing until he opened his mouth in freshman choir. Other people didn’t know he could sing until a high school retreat at the coast. He was 15, a timid, pimply-faced nobody. He sang Jon Foreman’s “Home” in front of the school and got a standing ovation.
You could say the CD saved Hammond from joining the Navy. Aimless and broke, he talked to a recruiter, passed the test and was ready to sign when Talkback Records called from Florida. The Yamhill resident signed with the small label, instead.
If you want a great cup of coffee and listen to some very good music, head over to Insomnia Coffee Company on Baseline. They have been one of the most popular companies I have featured on Pouregon and I just found out they hosted their second wedding.
Happy New Year!!!
