Cindy from The Portland Happy Hour Guide mentioned Jimmy Mak’s on Facebook today. I had heard the name before but didn’t know much. I feel silly, even USAToday knows about Jimmy Mak’s.

I will admit that I am not a huge Jazz fan. As you can tell from the photo above it is a gorgeous place and that alone may draw me in. Jimmy Mak’s can be packed so dinner reservations are always recommended to guarantee seating for weekend shows, and special events.
Here is a small taste of the menu:
Dolmathes – $9
Delicious seasoned ground lamb and rice rolled into tender grape leaves.
Filet Mignon – $29
This most tender cut of steak is prepared traditionally, wrapped in bacon, and served with an apple-honey steak sauce. Accompanied by a kasseri cheese-potato gratin and seasonal house vegetables, this delicious steak is not prepared above medium.
Braised Lamb Shank- $24
A generous bone-in lamb shank is slow braised to tender perfection in a burgundy reduction, served with whipped garlic potatoes and sauteed collard greens.
The beer and wine menu is large and here are the Oregon drinks.

Every night they have entertainment. The month of July brings much great music your way…featured artists include Patrick Lamb, Linda Hornbuckle, Dan Reed, Andrew Oliver and The Midnight Serenaders, The Portland Soul All-Stars, Soul Vaccination, Devin Phillips, and many others. Mondays usually have no cover charges. Other nights are $5 – $20+.
